As a new member of the thirty club, I’m adjusting to the fact that I am no longer considered “young” by a good majority of the population. Taking the “20-something” reference out of my bio was tough, but everyone says it only gets better. Instead of writing a lengthy summary about my life and lofty aspirations, I thought a list of my interests/quirks would be a better option (and hopefully not bore you to tears):
I may be geographically located in the Midwest but I will always, always, be an East Coast girl at heart.
I’ll always have a soft spot for DC, the place where I spent the majority of my twenties and learned most of my life lessons.
I recently traveled to Serbia alone, to meet up with a group of strangers for a whirlwind 10-day trek to the Balkans. I may or may not have received a marriage proposal.
I traveled to Japan at eleven years old and it was one of the best experiences of my life.
Something I’ve learned over the past few months: There are a lot of Allison Parkers in the world.
My guilty pleasures include political TV dramas (think House of Cards) and James Patterson thrillers.
I’m always (well, mostly always) on time and am the WORST at quoting/remembering movie lines.
I’m left-handed but swear by the fact that I’m ambidextrous.
I’m a cat owner and not ashamed of it.
A phrase I find myself saying over and over again to my East Coast friends: Chicago winters are not THAT bad (although, who am I kidding).
